Terms & Conditions

Effective date: [01.09.2026]

1. Who we are

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all contracts between you and:

Strange Seas Magazine
Zoé Levit
Holstenstraße 28b
25462 Rellingen
Germany
Email: info(at)strangeseasmag.com

In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Strange Seas Magazine. “You” and “customer” refer to the person placing an order in our online shop.

These Terms apply to consumers (private individuals) and, where applicable, to business customers. If you are a consumer, you benefit from all statutory rights that cannot be waived by law.

2. What we sell

We sell printed magazine issues via our WooCommerce online shop. All products are described on our website. We aim to keep descriptions accurate, but small differences (e.g. due to printing or screen settings) are possible.

3. How a contract is formed (order process)

  1. You select products in our shop and add them to your cart.
  2. You go to the checkout page, review your order, and choose a payment method.
  3. You actively accept these Terms (and our Privacy Policy) by ticking the corresponding checkbox.
  4. You click the button “[zahlungspflichtig bestellen / order with a commitment to pay]”. This sends us your binding order.
  5. We send you an automatic order confirmation email. This confirms we received your order but does not yet accept it.
  6. The contract is concluded when we send you a separate order acceptance (which can be the shipping confirmation) or when we ship the products.

We may refuse an order (e.g. in case of obvious pricing errors or suspected fraud) before acceptance.

4. Prices, taxes, shipping, and payment

  • All prices shown in our shop are final prices and include German VAT. The applicable VAT rate is shown in the checkout.
  • Shipping costs (if any) are shown separately before you place your order.
  • You can pay using the payment methods displayed at checkout (e.g. credit card, PayPal, [others]).
  • Payment is processed by our external payment providers. We do not store full card numbers.

5. Delivery

  • We ship to the address you provide at checkout.
  • Delivery times depend on carrier, you can send us a mail to inquire.
  • Risk of accidental loss or damage passes to you when the parcel is handed over to the shipping company.
  • If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, please contact us and we will help resolve the issue with the carrier.

6. Right of withdrawal (for consumers)

If you are a consumer, you have a statutory right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period starts on the day you (or a third party you named, other than the carrier) received the last item of your order.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you can:

  • Send us a clear statement (e.g. email) at: info@strangeseasmag.com

If you withdraw, we will refund all payments we received from you (including standard delivery costs) without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we are informed of your decision. You must send the goods back to us within 14 days of telling us you are withdrawing. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods, unless we agree otherwise or the goods are faulty.

More details, including the full withdrawal instructions and model form, are in our separate Withdrawal Policy page.

7. Warranty (statutory rights for defects)

For all products, including our printed magazines, the statutory warranty rules apply. For consumers, the limitation period for defect claims is two years from delivery.

A defect exists if, at the time of delivery, the magazine does not conform to what was agreed (e.g. wrong issue, missing pages, significant printing errors, or damage that existed on delivery). Normal wear and tear from reading, or very minor printing variations that do not affect usability, are not considered defects.

If a product is defective, you can first request repair or replacement (e.g. a new copy of the same issue). If this fails, takes an unreasonable amount of time, or is impossible, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to cancel the contract (rescission), subject to legal conditions.

These statutory rights are not limited by these Terms.

8. Liability

We are fully liable for intent, gross negligence, and personal injury or death caused by our fault.

For simple mistakes (slight negligence), we are only liable for essential parts of the contract and for typical, foreseeable damage. Further liability is excluded where the law allows.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect legal changes or improvements to our services. The version applicable to your order is the one in force at the time you place your order.

10. Dispute resolution

EU online dispute resolution (ODR)
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/odr.

We are not obliged and do not intend to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board in Germany.

11. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

  • These Terms and all contracts are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, to the extent not overridden by mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
  • If you are a consumer, any legal action must generally be brought at the courts of your place of residence.

12. Final provisions

  • If any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in effect.
  • We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a third party (e.g. in case of a sale of our business).
  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent, except where legally permitted.
